Water for Africa

Water For Africa (Medium)Glass of Water

A glass of clean drinking water- a simple, clean glass of water  makes a difference. Next time you look at clear, fresh, tap-water, remember that a vast majority of the world would love to have access to even this seemingly minor pleasure. Throughout the countries S.O.S. serves in Africa, most people have access only to water that makes the water in your toilet look refreshing by comparison.

Not only is the water supply contaminated by all kinds of disease-causing bacteria, in every village, the people are forced to walk a quarter mile or more to even get any.

Because God has called us to love and serve those suffering such hardship, it is our goal to drill water wells in every community we befriend. This is a physical symbol of the spiritual truth of the water of life Jesus Christ gives that wells up to eternal life.

The water coming from the wells is safe and uncontaminated, and we asked one of the women in a village just how many trips a day we were saving her and she said, “Oh, it is uncountable.”

Having free access to clean drinking water keeps people more healthy, which in turn improves school performance and increases productivity, improving the economy over the long term. And most importantly, giving the people clean drinking water is a powerful gateway to present the gospel in communities that normally would not receive the gospel.

Each well costs between $5,000 and $15,000 depending on the region and will change the lives of hundreds of people for years to come. Even $5 a month helps, so if you desire to donate to this cause, please visit our donation page and earmark the donation for “Water for Africa”.

And if anyone gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones who is my disciple, truly I tell you, that person will certainly not lose their reward.”
